Vannevar Bush writes "As We May Think" published in the Atlantic Monthly, July 1945

"Consider a future device for individual use, which is a sort of mechanized private file and library. It needs a name, and, to coin one at random, "memex" will do. A memex is a device in which an individual stores all his books, records, and communications, and which is mechanized so that it may be consulted with exceeding speed and flexibility. It is an enlarged intimate supplement to his memory.

Who uses the Internet?

While 88% of 18-29 year-olds now go online, 32% of those age 65 and older say they use the internet.

Just 53% of adults living in households with less than $30,000 in annual income go online, compared with 91% of adults living in households earning more than $75,000.

While 40% of adults who have less than a high school education use the internet, 91% of adults with at least a college degree go online.
