The Dressler Ranch has been passed down through the family for five generations.
The ranch was founded in 1862 by Augustus Dressler, who spent a short time working for other local ranchers before he saved up enough money to start buying his own spread.
The Dressler Ranch has changed dramatically over the years, not only in its size but also in its daily routines. Fields on the ranch once crowded with Hereford cattle and horse-drawn equipment are now home to far fewer cattle, tended by modern motorized machinery. Despite the change in numbers, the Dressler Ranch remains at its core a working cattle ranch.
Beyond raising cattle, successful modern ranchers must know how to work as self-sufficient entrepreneurs. Tackling many tasks, they become masters of a complex arena where they must rely on their own skills and know-how to survive economically.
