Daffodil Hill

By Jerri Conrad, Outpost staff

In the foothills of the Sierra sits Daffodil Hill, a four-acre farm owned by the McLaughlin family since 1887. Spring finds Daffodil Hill bursting with blooms.

The farm boasts over 300,000 bulbs including 300 varieties. The farm offers a picnic area, a snack bar and bathrooms. Chickens, rabbits and goats are nearby to the delight of children. The farm is free of charge but donations are appreciated.

The farm started out as a stopping place for travelers in the 1930's. Travelers and truck drivers alike enjoyed the family's garden. Word soon spread and so did the garden.

The hill opens around mid March when at least 25% of the daffodils are open. It closes near mid April when 25% remain.

Daffodil Hill is open seven days a week, weather and daffodils permitting.
