Sagebrush is one of the most useful plants. The
Paiute people peeled the bark off and used it to
weave mats or clothing. They used it for diapers
because it was absorbent. Other uses for sagebrush
were rope and for housing. Francis Sam, Northern
Paiute of Shurz, Nev., made this piece in 1970.
This piece is a model of what a dress made of
sagebrush would look like.
