A cradle basket is the first piece you come to. These were made to protect the child from the sun. The frame is made of choke cherry wood. The back was woven out of willow, covered with a tanned hide and the bonnet is decorated with beading. The decorations were different beaded designs to distinguish between boys and girls. This basket has a zigzag, which meant there was a little baby girl inside. |
