The Baldwin company of Philadelphia, a manufacturer of locomotives, built this piece in 1875. It is a wood burner. It was restored to its 1890s version. Although the Inyo usually only operates once a year on Independence Day, this year it was used in a PBS series on the "American Experience" The segment specifically documenting Abe Lincoln's presidency. The producers said to look for it either during the fall of 1999 or Lincoln's birthday in 2000. |
