Amerikanauak! Basques in the High Desert

This exhibit was created by the High Desert Museum in Bend, Ore., and chronicles the history of the Basque people in the inter-mountain West. This exhibit opened in May and will remain on display through April 4, 1999.

The Nevada State Museum contributed the sheepherder's wagon, acquired four years ago. The museum's exhibits director, Doug Southerland, oversaw the restoration of the wagon. The restoration project was funded by a $10,000 grant for the Bretzlaff Foundation.
