Three Ring Coffee Shop a delight

Because I have only lived in Reno for three months, I still have not scoped out the good restaurants. When my friend visited me from San Jose, I was at a loss about where to eat out.

But we didn't think we could go wrong at the Circus Circus casino. As we entered the fourth floor, the Three Ring Coffee Shop caught our eyes at once. First I thought it was only a place for coffee, but the menu section on the wall near the entrance changed my opinion. The restaurant offers a variety of foods. My friend is a vegetarian, so we decided to go in after we saw various vegetarian foods on the menu.

There is no door at the entrance, indicating that it is a 24-hour restaurant and giving people a peak inside. A glass case on the right side of the entrance held a small house made of chocolate decorated for Halloween. On the right wall, big pictures of the dishes offered in this restaurant attract everyone's attention. The foods in the pictures are so beautiful that I couldn't resist.

The receptionist was pleasant while we waited a minute or two for a table. She led us to a table near the entrance. I wanted to see more of the restaurant, so I asked for another table. In another two minutes we were seated again.

The restaurant holds more than 30 tables but we didn't feel it was crowed or noisy, even though it was full. This restaurant looks like the rest of the casino. The colors of the lights, the designing and the decoration match the casino's lively atmosphere perfectly. The whole area was divided into small sections with many fake but vivid flowers. People eat in their own section and are not be bothered by others.

The waitress was warm and kept service at a personal level. My friend found his food easily because there is a section on the menu just for vegetarians. He ordered the vegetarian sandwich ($5.75) with sliced cucumber, tomato, avocado and french fries. I ordered the rib eye steak ($13.95). The waitress recommended this to me because I couldn't judge which one was the best with the many unfamiliar names on the menu. The steak comes with many choices such as soup or salad, vegetable and mashed potatoes or rice or fries or baked potato. I ordered the salad, vegetable and baked potato.

Our order arrived within 10 minutes. My friend's vegetarian sandwich was served on grain bread with Jack cheese, cream cheese and alfalfa sprouts. I couldn't believe vegetarian food could look so delicious. The alfalfa sprouts looked fresh and juicy. The cucumber, tomato and avocado made the plate colorful. The fries were much bigger than those at McDonalds.

The steak was medium rare with a big fried onion ring on it. The vegetables were colorful. I especially liked the carrots, which tasted good with pepper. The baked potato tasted wonderful with the sour cream. The salad was beautiful with the decoration of the cherry tomato. The ranch dressing was fresh. For me, a person who never had it before, the ranch dressing was surely a wonderful surprise.

You can never forget you are in a casino if you go to this restaurant. Keno runners constantly walked by to ask people if they want to play. But they were quiet and left if you weren't interested.

The waitress frequently came back to ask if we needed anything else. She recommended desserts to us, including ice creams, cheesecake, chocolate cake and many kinds of pies. We both had to refuse because we were too full.

For a total of $26.01, including tip, we had a wonderful dinner in the casino. We decided to go back again.
