- American Institute of Mining ( Society for Mining, Metallurgy, and Exploration) - This site chronicles changes in the mining industry. Includes information on new technology and production methods as well as maps, etc.
- The Nevada Bureau of Mines and Geology - NBMG is a research unit of the Mercy School of Mines at the University of Nevada, Reno as well as being the state geological survey. Scientists conduct research on mineral resources, engineering geology, environmental geology, hydrogeology and geologic mapping.
