With the dropping temperatures and falling snow, winter quickly approaches the Truckee Meadows. And for the second year, the winter season brings the Rink by the River, Reno's temporary ice skating rink.

One of Reno's favorite seasonal attractions, the Rink by the River draws hundreds of skaters of all ages. Although the rink was moved from dowtown Wingfield Park to Idlewild Park, just west of downtown, it brings visitors and residents alike to the banks of the Truckee River.

While the citizens of Reno and Sparks lobby for a permanent ice rink for the area, the temporary rink fits the bill for many area teens and young adults.

As in previous years, the city of Reno will host hockey and broomball leagues at the rink, as well as offer skating lessons.
